Kodiak Island is a large island on the south coast of the U.S. state of Alaska, separated from the Alaska mainland by the Shelikof Strait. Sapelo Island is a state-protected island located in McIntosh County, Georgia. The visitors to this place would be treated to natural community, forested uplands, vast salt marshes and the complex beach and dunes systems. The Geechee communities of Hog Hammock are the natives of the land.

Orcas Island, Washington

Orcas Island can be reached from the mainland via a leisurely ferry ride from Anacortes or by seaplane from Seattle or Portland.

There are numerous campgrounds many of which are only accessible by water.
